Books ordered!
10 months ago – Thu, May 15, 2025 at 01:34:03 PM

Hi Folks!

Just a very quick update. Between the paperbacks and hardbacks for the campaign, and having a few extra to sell during events in June, I just put in the order for 300 books!

I've been working hard with the publishers of the hardcover edition, and I think you all are going to love it. The paperback version is amazing as well! I can't wait to get it out to everyone.

I don't think the mail carriers are going to like me in the next couple weeks...

Meanwhile, remember to sign up for our annual Space Wizard campaign starting May 29th!  We already have some author interviews and other videos in the launch party.
The campaign for the second Lesbians in Space Anthology, Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back will be launching in September 2025, so make sure to sign up for that one as well. We've just secured some amazing authors to fill out the rest of our roster, and we'll let you know who they are very soon!

Anthology Formatting and copy editing complete!
10 months ago – Thu, May 01, 2025 at 01:48:38 PM

Hi Folks!

It's been a bit since the last update, but we've been busy behind the scenes. The anthology is coming together fast! Formatting and almost all copy editing is complete. We've also got finalized illustrations by the amazing sister team of Katie and Kris Cordy as well as a finalized cover wrap!

I'm working with Pulsio printing on the hardcover option, and they have some amazing options. I can't wait to see the fancy version! It's going to have sprayed edges, an embossed and foil cover, full color illustrations, and more!

Behold, the cover!

I've also got some sneaky reveals for two of the five interior illustrations. You'll have to wait until you get to the books to see the whole images!

In other news, I'm gearing up for our annual Space Wizard campaign. If you're enjoying our progress on Lesbians in Space, check out seven more queer books coming to you in June 2025, right here! We have a launch party going on, and will have some author interviews and other fun stuff coming to you soon. Here's the list of books that will be in the campaign:

  • Isaac - a woman develops a relationship with her deceased father's care-bot, from Allee Mead. (You can see this cover in the banner below!)
  • Waves Take Your Bones - The first in a trilogy where a young asexual woman and a gay man get drafted into a medieval naval fleet to fight zombies (and zombie pirates), by Athena Giles
  • It's You, Isn't It? - A colony world is overrun by indigenous creatures, but maybe there's more to the story? By Antony Paschos
  • Crying Out For Magic - It's like Heartstopper, but with magic! Two young men find each other through connected universes, one of which is ours and the other has failing magic, by PSC Willis
  • Intent Magic - The second book in William C. Tracy's new progression fantasy series, featuring martial arts-based magic, and fast moving continents in a world controlled by the gods!
  • Relic of Haven - Return to a world of post apocalyptic giant crabs and human scavengers with the sequel to Empress of Dust, by Alex Kingsley!
  • A New Beginning - An intrepid crew strikes out to explore space in Edward Isaacs' debut novel!

Check out the campaign below!

And remember when we said we'll be publishing not one, but two Lesbians in Space Anthologies? The second campaign: Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back will be launching in September 2025, so make sure to sign up for that one as well, and don't miss any of these great stories! There will be just as many in the second anthology as in the first!

That's all for now. I'm hoping to have some books for you in the next update!

Anthology Progress Update!
about 1 year ago – Fri, Mar 07, 2025 at 02:20:11 PM

Hi Folks!

Wow, it's been almost two months since my last update! Never fear, we've been very busy on the stories for Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before!

During January and February, we've managed to do developmental edits on all 21 stories that will be in this anthology. We've even started on some of the copy edits, so we're well on our way to production. The original release date of June still stands, but if we get everything done before that, I'll be sure to let you know!

We've also been working on stories for the second anthology, Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back, which will be coming out toward the end of this year, so we'll be ready to send that one out as soon as the new campaign to raise funds to pay the authors is over. That second campaign still in planning, but will likely take place somewhere around September to November, 2025.

Since we're getting closer to release, we've also finalized the order of stories for the first anthology, and divided them up into five sections. Each section will get its own illustration, thanks to Katie Cordy! I've also been researching hardcover options to make sure we get all the fancy features like sprayed edges and embossed covers, and I think I've found a good supplier today. More on that later, but I can tell you the final product will be beautiful.

In the meantime, if you like what we do at Space Wizard Science Fantasy, why not check out our lineup for our Year 4 campaign, coming to you in June 2025? We've got 14 queer science fiction and fantasy books scheduled, from pirates and zombies to weird sci-fi to romantasy, both F/F and M/M, progression fantasy, and more! Sign up here to get notified about campaign updates! Starting in April and May, we'll be doing some author interviews and cool behind-the-scenes updates!

I'll have more information next month!

Submission acceptances and surprise news!
about 1 year ago – Mon, Jan 13, 2025 at 10:34:02 AM

Hi Folks!

Hope you had a great end of 2024 and beginning of 2025. The editing team for Lesbians in Space (J.S. Fields, Heather Tracy, and William Tracy) hit the ground running in January to read through the amazing submissions you all sent in for the anthology! We spent about a week reading through them all, and I can tell you, there are some amazing stories.

Our final entrant count for submissions was 54 stories, and a total of almost 234,000 words! To put this in perspective, we raised enough money during the campaign to pay authors for about 20 stories or around 80,000 words...

That means we got enough stories to fill almost three anthologies!

We dug in, trying to categorize the different types of stories we got, from stories about alien contact, to classic space opera, to heists, pirates, dragons, fungus, AI, and more. The problem was, we kept running into cutting some of our favorite stories, no matter how we organized it, but we finally came to a solution, and that leads to our submission announcements, as well as our surprise!

First, we did regrettably have to reject a good number of our submissions, so some of you may have gotten a rejection letter already. There were so many fantastic stories here, it was really hard to choose.

But that also means we will be sending out acceptance letters in the next few days for those authors we want to represent in Lesbians in Space: Where No Man Has Gone Before! If you have not received a rejection letter and submitted a story, be on the lookout in the next week for a communication!

BUT

We also have a surprise announcement.

We have SO many great stories, we are planning to make a second anthology!

That's right! On the heels of our first round of acceptance letters, we're going to be contacting a select number of the entrants to prepare for Lesbians in Space: The Sapphics Strike Back! We are in the first stages of planning a new campaign for this second anthology, with a brand new cover and new interior artwork, that will show off some of the great stories we just couldn't fit in the first one. Those who submitted and have been chosen for the second anthology will also be getting an acceptance letter and more information very soon!

Details are still up in the air for this, as Space Wizard will also have our usual Year 4 campaign, for all the other books releasing from Space Wizard Science Fantasy between July 2025 and July 2026, but we plan to publish both anthologies in 2025!

Stay tuned for more sapphic excitement! In other news, hopefully most all of you have received your other goodies from the campaign (except for international shipments). If you haven't received something you think you should have, please email wctracy at williamctracy dot com to let me know and I can investigate!

That's it for now, but we'll be back next time with more information on both anthologies!
